206/365 Your art is taking off, you are on fire. I came home to this pattern of purple flowers and sunflowers.
205/365 A baby seal. We had a meeting on Bailey Island, and were a bit early, so we went to check out the shore around Cook's Lobster House, and what did we see after running in and out of all the lobster trap piles??? A baby seal. He is fine, and Maine Marine Wildlife was on the way. The Warden and Sheriff were there, and allowed us to look more closely and take his picture. He seemed to like the attention.

197/365 Practicing for your Math assessment at school. Less than 20 days left of school, and I have really enjoyed coming to help out in the classroom on Wednesdays.
196/365 You had so much creativity in you today. A deep well of amazing detail and concepts. A map, fish, generators, and then whirlpools that would take one to wherever they wanted to go in an instant. You created many complex charts and designs, even a game.

191/365 On our way to our birthday vacation. A date trip to Nantucket. Route 128 at dusk in Massachusetts.
190/365 Down at the shore before piano. There was so much to do before and after the lesson. Throwing rocks, building fairy houses, running the hill, and catapulting down the hill doing somersaults and cartwheels. Best of all you both played a new game where you hid behind the trees, and called 'can you see me?'
189/365 So much to say about today. Finn, you beat me at Parcheesi. You improvised new patterns and games with the Pixie cubes. Tucker, you made me a beautiful watercolor painting at the HHLT nature program. And then, and then, we went for this awesome bike ride/run to the causeway and back. It started to rain, and it was so refreshing. Though it made you both a bit itchy, hmm. Hope you're not allergic to spring rain. It was such a wonderful day.
Playing pixie cubes, completing a pattern, in your words.
My determined skater. You fall but always get back up. And you are getting better and better everyday.
Braving 40. My hubby helping me feel pretty, feel fabulous, feel loved.
After the party, with the girls who really helped me pull it all together. To bravely celebrate my 40th birthday. It was quite a celebration with 15 enjoying decadent treats including East End mini-Cupcakes, Holy Donut donuts, kettle corn, French macaroons, gelato, and some savory goodies as well.
It was rough from the start. For some reason, the arguing began over a couple of iPhone erasers from the book fair at school on the way back from the bus stop and then continued on to how the new mini sports training cones should be arranged for racing outside. There was a lot of crying and whining and frustration for all of us, but at the end of the day, you pushed each other and thought well of each other. I have to believe that, right?
We had your 8 year-old well visit at the Doctor's office. How is it that you are already 8? I feel like it should have been your 8 month-old well visit. You have grown so much. You weigh 58.4 pounds and are 50 inches tall. You were making the nurse laugh and then you made Dr. Tracy laugh. They asked you lots of questions, and you seemed to enjoy every little bit of attention. You were brave. When the Doctor came in and sat down to talk to you, you said 'bring it on'. I couldn't be more proud of you. When I brought you in to the doctor when you were a just a newborn baby, I would have loved to have known then that you were going to turn out to be this stellar. Just stellar
You said good bye to Nana. After 15 minutes in the car on the way back home, you said that you missed her.
Dinner at The Dolphin. We came outside to a cool breeze and a bright moon.
Mother's day, and walking with your Nana before story time.
In the forsythia with your binoculars watching the field, looking for birds.
Looking up at the osprey on a cloudy day.
Nana arrived, and we were over for dinner at Bene and Dzia Dziu's house. We went down to the shore for a few minutes before sunset. You and your brother were throwing rocks, and climbing. A wee bit unsteady, you fell, but thankfully you were fine. But you weren't listening. Remember to be careful climbing and playing down by the water.
The bugs couldn't believe what you were doing. You were in your pajamas? Standing up on the car console, singing and dancing at the bus stop? Bad to the Bone. It was a treat day at school. You were allowed to wear pjs, bring a softie, and watch a movie at the end of math and writing. The Lion King. But you danced and sang, and even the bugs didn't know what you were doing. Well, you were having fun!
Enjoying the warm morning sun before the rush of the day. It is bright so early now that we are enjoying a little extra time to linger before the rush. You were looking at your Lego catalog and your brother at his Field Notes. Then you dropped it aside, closed your eyes, and smiled.
Skipping on the hill in the bright sun. We went for a little walk together after raking and picking up sticks in our yard and this blowing grass at our neighbors across the street beckoned. You skipped and ran a few times. Soon this grass will be so tall we won't be able to see you. Sounds like a good idea for hide and seek.
You had an overnight with their Bene and we came to pick them up to go out for breakfast all together for Daddy's birthday. It wasn't the most well coordinated morning, but we were all happy for the birthday boy. Happy Birthday handsome hubby!
A sunny weekend day outside. And soccer with your brother. You haven't quite made up your mind whether or not you love this sport, but you oblige in making your brother happy playing along with him sometimes.
I woke up to fog, early enough to get up before you were even awake. I wanted to go wake you and your brother, but I waited in great anticipation to go out and photograph the beautiful fog. Then I heard pitter patter up the stairs, and I heard your brother say, Oh Mom is going to love this! when he looked out the window on the landing. We went out to shoot, and you begged us to go to this spot, and we saved it for last. Just when the fog was almost done lifting and the oh so beautiful sun rays peaked through, like you had cast a magic spell.
It was a cloudy, cold, rainy day, and the sun started to come out when I was on my way to pick you up from the bus stop. After dinner, we went out to play, and you were splendid on your scooter, passing back and forth for me so that I could take you picture with the sun behind you.
You wanted to make a list of things to do at bedtime, and Bene helped you during your brother's piano lesson. First on the list, play! Then PJs . . . You used your favorite red colored pencil.
I love this light that greets me on sunny days. I only had a couple of minutes as the littles were hollering for their breakfast, but when the light is right, magic happens in an instant. I sort of wish I had smiled a bit more.
You started with a stencil of a formula 1 racing car, and added so much detail when you went in to color. It was late start day, and as always we relish the extra time, to do what our creative minds pull us towards before the rush of the rest of the day.
After the soccer game, where you played so well and even scored, and after lunch at the bbq restaurant, I think you were most excited to try the mountain bike park set up at LL Bean for Bike & Boat weekend. You impressed this crew, they called you a talented rider.
After dinner, after PJs, I was looking out at the big giant puddles thinking that I need some good puddle stomping images. I always love it when you guys get some fresh air not long before bed, and now that Spring is here, we can do that any day - rain or shine.
Taking a break from riding your bike so that I could take your picture. It's hard to catch you sitting still for long, so I have to work quickly. I love the fact that there isn't snow on the ground anymore, and that you were wearing your new glow in the dark Star Wars short sleeve t-shirt. We still have some cold days, but I am so happy for any warm day.
We long ignored this grove of Cedar trees behind our garage, because of all the junk left behind by previous owners, like those metal arches by your feet. But we are getting it hauled away next weekend, so that you can have a new outside clubhouse with your big brother. And I can take lots of wonderful pictures of you both in the wonky branches.
April vacation. We woke up to thick fog, so we had to go out and play. I have realized recently that I am drawn to shooting through branches. Some might say that I over exposed here, but you almost vanish into the fog, which I love.
April vacation, we went to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens with Bene. You searched for turtles in the pond, climbed in this amazing tree house, and had a lovely snack before we went on to a very giggly lunch at Frontier.
April vacation. Spinning, spinning - round and round. Giggling and laughing all the while. In your PJs, of course!
Easter Sunday, and my sweet niece, who just turned two. And some smashing light on the stairs of my sister's house. You weren't a big fan of going to church and sitting still, but you sure did love the Easter egg hunt and the freedom to relax at home after all the formalities.
You were coming down the stairs at your cousin's house after playing on the third floor, and I was shooting. I don't even know what, but my camera was in my hands. And just in time, I turned to snap this image of you. It ended up being way underexposed, but I think it was quite a happy accident. I love the rim of light on your wispy hair, and the steps lighting up your way down to me.
Your first full day of April vacation. You got to spend the morning with your younger brother at his school as a helper. We picked you up, and drove to town for lunch on our way to visit the cousins for Easter weekend. We love Frontier, you love their Kids Market Plate. And I love the light!
Last day of Polar Bear Swim. You both had so much fun, whether it was doing flips off the diving board or getting spun around and around with the noodles. I am so happy we found that program so that you could both be excited about swimming. Each time I would drop you off at the front door and you would run to the locker room. Run!
One last day of snow. Brrr. We had to scrape the ice and snow off the car one more time. It was late start day, so we took a few minutes to see the snow at the causeway before heading to the bus stop. The sun was so bright. Your pointing to the snow on the window made me think of watching Frozen recently. Let it go. Winter, winter, time to leave.
I found you!
After washing your pear, you dug right in while sitting on the counter.
We went out to listen to the peepers before bed, after sunset.
Playing by the shore with your friend Nick after his birthday party at his house. Everyone else had left, but we stayed a while to enjoy some one on one time.
After school in the sandbox. I ducked down way low to get some good bokeh.
You make the best batman.
I let you use my back-up camera. You were photographing your lego plane in some lovely light, and then before I knew it, you were outside across the street in the field taking some pictures outside, in your pjs!
I polished my boots, wiping away all the mud from Photo Field Trip in California. So shiny, like new!
You were looking for black mica. It was pretty cloudy. I don't think we have played at the causeway at this tide before.
Pushing your cousin in the bright morning sun. Round and round!
My sweet niece at her second birthday party. Dressed so sweetly, and becoming so much more independent.
You were making a birthday card for your cousin, with a cake and hearts and lots of purple since that is her favorite color.
We had both had the stomach flu, and all that week, we really only wanted to eat cookies. Especially the m&m cookies from the Little Dog. Yum! I brought you one as a treat after picking you up from school, and you enjoyed it down by the causeway on the shore.
Where in the world? I have so few pictures of you in your room. So I will always treasure this one. A few minutes after this, you were changing into your clothes for the day, and doing the naked dance. I have got pictures of that too. LOL
You just love pine boughs. You were finally feeling better after a long, long night. It was warm and sunny, and you were so much happier.
Feeling low after feeling sick in the morning light.
Some water, before the storm.
It was your turn first. You had it, and then me, and then Finn. Glad that is all done. But I still love this image.
At my desk with me in the afternoon. Playing with the Click set I gave you for Christmas. We built dirt bikes together. We counted and sorted all the pieces we needed before we started building.
In your favorite tree, golden hour. I just love how you hung your bike helmet on a branch. You hadn't done that before.
Wednesday's at Bene's house for piano. She had just cleaned the kitchen, and we came over and in about 5 minutes messed it all up. Beautiful chaos.
Freelensing and dancing.
Facing the sun, while nibbling on your pear at dinnertime.
Sunday afternoon shore explore down at the yacht club.
Visiting the lambs at Two Coves with your cousin. Then running out to see Clover the cow, who is expecting. Our house is just across the cove. Sometimes we can hear the sheep and even the cow.
Your 5th birthday party, watercoloring. My favorite memory that day is when you asked me to sing you happy birthday. You were a bit shy and scared when everyone was singing together before you blew out your candles.
We went out for Indian before shopping for your birthday party. You loved the papadum, and the mango lassi. Your first trip to Indian was quite the success.
At the bus stop on late start day. We parked on the other side of the street, and the sun was on you so strong inside the car.
Found you at my desk first thing in the morning. Tucker was watching a video about an aircraft carrier.
Playing with your cross bow after school downstairs.
Playing with a nascar at your cousin's house in the morning.
My nephew and niece in the light, in a box, together.
I asked you to sit in this beautiful light before breakfast.
Playing with shadows and snow.
I asked you to rub noses right before leaving for the bus stop. I took this image, and was positively giddy when I saw it on my computer. You too smiling and happy together.
Practicing Rembrant lighting at Orange Leaf.
You were playing in the giant snow puddle by the garage with your blue boat.
Magic for Summer Murdock's workshop. Your shadow two ways.
Practicing rim lighting at Golden hour. You were playing street hockey.
Playing with light at Fort Andross. I love how you figured out that opening up the door just a bit added a sliver of light to the floor. You played hopscotch in the rectangles, and had so much fun.
Snacktime after playing legos in the light. Pretzels with peanut butter and chocolate chips.
Preschool field trip to the Orr's Island library.
Back from California, I got to spend the morning with you while your Mommy was getting ready for work. You love to look out the window of your room for buses and trucks.
LAX - homeward bound. Saying good bye to a blue sky that should have been there all along.
Skipping classes on Photo Field Trip to enjoy a break from the rain with my new wonderful friend.
El Capitan beach and clouds, lots of clouds. Storm surge waves that knocked us all over that morning at the polar bear plunge.
Flying from Boston to LA, I spotted the Grande Canyon out the window. Excitedly I grabbed my long lens.
Watching you play with a lego minifigure before leaving for my trip.
Getting dressed for school, about to toss your pajama top into the laundry. I heard you all giggling so I ran downstairs with my camera to see the big smiles.
Your favorite socks.
